WESTMINSTER
Denver's closest northside city to the mountains. Westminster spreads all over the place, so it isn't easily categorized. It's roughly centered around the Westminster Mall just off U.S. Highway 36, the Boulder Turnpike, at 88th Avenue. To the west, 88th Avenue. This northwest suburban community benefits from being equidistant between Denver and Boulder. Situated on the Denver - Boulder Turnpike, now U.S. 36, the corridor has become the high-tech by-way between Denver's center of finance and government and Boulder's center of research and education.
To the north, there are attractive housing developments clustered and scattered through a lot of open country with big-sky views. Another arm of Westminster protrudes west to wrap around two sides of Standley Lake, one of Greater Denver's best water recreation resources, on the edge of unincorporated Jefferson County. Westminster has lots of good, upscale townhomes and middle-class neighborhoods as well as established areas with mature trees and big lots.
With good city planning and good school districts, and Front Range Community College, Westminster becomes a great alternative for anyone employed at the hundreds of high tech businesses in the northwest sector.
